A last-minute addition to the Liverpool Empire's winter line-up will see burlesque performer Immodesty Blaize bring "a feather and diamond encrusted spectacular live music theatrical show" to the venue on December 2.

Inspired by the glamour of iconic screen seductresses such as Ava Gardner and Sophia Loren, as well as camp kitsch icons such as Jayne Mansfield, Liberace and Grace Jones, Immodesty Blaize is unanimously credited with spearheading the return of Burlesque to mainstream Europe.  The only European to be crowned Reigning Queen of Burlesque in Las Vegas’ Burlesque Hall of Fame, Immodesty has performed in the past alongside music artistes such as Goldfrapp, Marc Almond, Roxy Music, and Gloria Gaynor, and for clients such as Dior, Cartier, Depeche Mode, and Damien Hirst.  She was the first burlesque artiste to bring the genre back to London’s West End, and her cinema documentary Burlesque Undressed has been screened in over 30 countries.  Considered Europe’s biggest burlesque star, her Venus Tour moves on from traditional burlesque offerings, to cross the boundaries between music, high fashion couture, and extravagant show-stopping burlesque. Immodesty is joined by her troupe of dancers The Blaizing Angels, and a stellar cast of world-renowned international burlesque acts. The show's retro sounds, soaring strings and filmic scores come courtesy of live band The Trailblaizers. Immodesty Blaize says: “I want people to watch something larger-than-life, something camp and glamorous or dark and dramatic, something that entertains. It’s not enough to just wear frilly knickers and wave a few feathers around. I enjoy creating something truly fantastic- new and exciting. We like to go that extra mile to give our audiences a night they’ll never forget.” Ooh -- can't wait. Tickets are £23.50 to £28.50, available from the Empire's box office, by calling 0844 871 3017, or online at www.atgtickets.com/liverpool*. Here's a little taster of Immodesty in action (pretty much as not safe for work as you'd expect from a burlesque show): [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEZVhkpNKgk?wmode=transparent]
