Club Geek Chic goes Back to the Eighties

Club Geek Chic, most excellently described as "the night out for Liverpool’s discerning socialites", returns this weekend after a break of nearly two years, with what organisers are calling a "1980s themed extravaganza!"

Gemma Aldcroft and Karen Podesta have spent the last two years concentrating on their hugely successful In Conversation events, whereby interviewees such as Janice Long, David Morrissey and Peter Serafinowicz were interviewed in magnificent Liverpool venues and enjoyed live performances of their favourite songs.

Fans have become familiar with the Club Geek Chic format, which includes live music, comedy, dance and quizzes and may remember nights such as Geek Chic Does Bond in the Box Cinema at FACT, a sinister Halloween celebration of greed in the 8th Floor Boardroom of the Martin’s Bank and fairy cakes, light opera and tea cocktails at the Racquet Club Tea Dance.

They say: "Club Geek Chic events have become synonymous with the ultimate in stylish, witty and fun nights out."

“We’ve been planning on doing an Eighties night since we started putting on events,” says Karen.  “The theme fits in perfectly with the way we put a night together.  There’s plenty of opportunity for music, dance and satirical comedy plus our MC makes a very versatile game show host so audience participation is definitely on the cards!”

They could only mean one man. Rinty Boo (pictured above), known for these purposes as "Rinty Boo from 1982" is the alter ego of actor Paul Duckworth, who actually created his faded cabaret star character at a previous Geek Chic event.

The evening’s entertainment will include specially-formed dance troupe Hot Chrome, up and coming electro-pop duo Stereo Electric Mistress and superstar DJ and top Comedy Podcast-er, Che ‘The Hitman and Hair’ Burnley.

The event takes place at the Liner Hotel, Lord Nelson Street, Liverpool on Saturday (November 19) from 8.30pm to 1am.  Tickets are £12 each. For more information or to book tickets visit www.clubgeekchic.co.uk, email info@clubgeekchic.co.uk or call 07775 567192.
