Picture This: 3 Plays Drawn from Liverpool Life is the debut show from Pique Niche Productions, coming to The Hope Street Theatre this month.

Showcasing brand new works from Liverpool based writers, each play is inspired by art: “Whether that be landscapes of the city’s inimitable waterfront or an abstract painting of a woman with an iguana for a necklace,” they say. “The stories explore family life and relationships ranging from the romantic to the dysfunctional, and all told with a classic Scouse sense of humour.”

Pique Niche is a new Liverpool theatre company supporting new writing from the North, led by artistic director Donna M Day, who directs the three pieces in Picture This.

Ferry Tales by Alex May tells the story of four friends aboard the iconic Mersey ferry as they discuss life and love; revealing their different outlooks on people and showing how a throwaway remark can change a relationship forever.

A prolific, bestselling poet looks back on her life and reflects on her experience of infertility in Almost Always, by Donna M Day.

And In Art for Our Sake, also by Alex May, a man discovers a painting he has always hated may be worth a fortune. Should he share the good news with his sister or keep quiet and use the money to save his business? The story takes us all the way back to 1939, when a young woman meets a German who is fighting against the rise of fascism while pursuing his passion for art. As war approached, will they find a way to be together?

Catch Picture This from Thursday, November 14 to Saturday November 16 at The Hope Street Theatre. Tickets are available now from Ticketquarter.
