Draw Your Heart Out art workshop: Wolf Red

Draw Your Heart Out art workshop: Wolf Red

Tmesis Theatre's production Wolf Red was one of the most striking physical theatre performances of last year - and here's a revival with a twist. Next Sunday (June 23) performer Elinor Randal will be recreating scenes from the show as part of a brand new event to encourage new and experienced artists in their drawing. The intriguing sounding Draw Your Heart Out takes place at the Lantern Theatre, as a workshop including guided experiments in basic techniques including mark making and the creation of interesting live ‘stills’,  accompanied by music to inspire an imaginative approach to drawing. Illustrator Gill Smith will collaborate with performers to provide "exciting drawing opportunities and a welcoming space for artists, students and first timers". It sounds like a really interesting idea - the workshop costs £30 for adults and can be booked through the Lantern's website. All materials will be provided, but participants are free to bring their own.  The cafe bar on site will be open during the session, from 11am to 4.30pm. And here's a taste of Wolf Red, a darkly comic, gothic exploration of womanhood - bound to be as inspiring for visual artists and keen scribblers as it was for theatregoers.
