FishHead at the Kazimier

FishHead is a unique and atmospheric new play coming to the Kazimier next month, that takes place completely in and around a Perspex cube.Midlands-based Reaction Theatre Makers are just starting a national tour of the work, described as "a fairytale for the growing up".FishHead is the story of Tom and Lydia - one, a depressed oyster fisherman walking out to sea, the other a ventriloquist, sitting on the beach with her dummy.Lydia reaches out to Tom through Jonty, the dummy, and all of the action takes place around, inside, under and on top of a cube of Perspex. Suited dancers transform the cube from caravan to boat to cliff top, punctuating the action with choreography.Reaction Theatre Makers are a collective of artists creating innovative cross-art visual theatre, telling stories that focus on mental well-being and our changing environment. They say: "Quirky, abstract and yet accessible to all, we want to strike a balance between creating theatre as a tool for social change and theatre as entertainment". They describe FishHead as "an original piece about living and dying well".The cast includes Liverpool's own Trev Fleming, returning once again to the Kazimier where he recently spent 33 straight hours making up funny stuff in the cast of the annual improvathon.Tickets for the show on May 8 are available from the Kazimier's website.
