Greek tragedy at the Georgian Quarter

Burjesta Theatre's take on classic Greek revenge shocker Medea opens tomorrow night (Monday) at the Casa on Hope Street. "Medea is a truly subversive play which has shocked and divided audiences for the last 2,500 years," they say.Euripides's tragedy, written in 431BC,  tells the storng of the titular Medea, lover of Jason – of the Argonauts fame – who has been abandoned by him for the King’s daughter and now faces exile with her two young sons. But whosoever thinks she will passively accept her fate is dangerously mistaken....The community production will feature a cast of sixteen, an eight-strong all-women Greek Chorus and two child actors in their owwn original adaptation by the poet and writer, Jonathon Bibby.After the Casa dates (March 23, 25, 27 and 28, with tickets available on the door), the play will be performed at dates in the Bombed Out Church and Unity Theatre in April.
