I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue...
In an announcement that practically yells 'last minute Christmas present', the perrenial Radio 4 comedy favourite I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue is headed to Liverpool early in the new year. The self-styled 'antidote to panel games', usually hosted these days by Jack Dee since the death of the legendary Humphrey Lyttelton, will see Danish ex-pat, broadcaster and friend of Homotopia Sandi Toksvig step in as guest chair, with the usual regular guests including Barrie Cryer, former Goodies Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden, and comedian Jeremy Hardy all joining in.The show has been touring since 2007, with a format of a 'greatest hits' presentation, sourcing some of the material from Clue's enormous archives and no doubt featuring crowd-pleasing games from the Uxbridge English Dictionary to Mornington Cresent *cheers*.They say: "The live show looks just like a recording, feels like a recording, sounds like a recording, and audience members are also treated to their very own kazoo, surely the best value for money on the British stage today."Sandi claims to have sent Jack Dee on a herring awareness course in the Lofoten Islands, which apparently will keep him some time. Having previously appeared on the show as a contestant, she says: "It was only a matter of time before I stepped into the chair. The truth is I don’t really like sitting with the other panelists as some of their conditions are catching."Clue recently made the news for complaints made about the innuendo-laden jokes about its fictional scorekeeper, the lovely Samantha; but Sandi believes she wouldn't be able to manage without her. "She swallowed the whole thing with professionalism," she said of the recent furore.Catch the show at the Empire on January 11.
