Improv marathon starts crowdfunder with a difference

The Liverpool Improvathon is scheduled for May this year, and to cover increasing costs and support their amazing year-round community work, the company behind it have set up their first Crowdfunder.A rather standard way to fundraise these days, you might think - but not for Impropriety, who alongside the social media shout outs and sponsorship dibs are offering specially brewed beers, snack packs to get you through their whopping 33+ hour show, and, most notably, the chance for one of the cast (namely musical comedian and  Jollyboat co-founder Ed Croft), to play you as a character in it to boot. Now in its eighth year, the Liverpool  Improvathon is returning to its new home of the Invisible Wind Factory for 2017 minutes (33 hours and 37 minutes) of epic, improvised comedy soap opera. With a space theme this year, it all starts at 1pm on Saturday, May 13, playing in two-hour episodes until exactly 10:37pm on Sunday, May 14. The Improvathon is based on a format created and made popular by Canadian company DIE-Nasty, who have held an annual 50-hour 'Soap-a-thon' for more than 20 years. This year, Impropriety will be joined by improvisers from acclaimed companies as West End regulars Showstopper, plus members of the absurdly and wonderfully niche improv groups Project Two and Austentatious, who specialise in sci fi and Jane Austen adaptations respectively. Live (improvised) music will accompany the onstage silliness, and previous years have seen collaborations with several local bands including Dogshow, Dead Hedge Trio, Kazimier Krunk Band, and Loveless. For tickets and more information on the Improvathon format, see Impropriety's website. And for personalised Tweets, t-shirts, on-stage shout outs, beer, being theatrically embodied by Ed Croft (below) and loads of other fun rewards from £5 to £1000, get involved and check out their Crowdfunder
