Mello Mello at the last chance saloon?

Mello Mello at the last chance saloon?

There's a day left of Mello Mello's fundraising campaign (as of April 26).   The venue has been trying to raise the cash to buy its own Slater Street building and stave off developers, but halfway through their appeal, they were gazumped by a higher offer. Although this may have slowed down progress somewhat this doesn't mean their Indigogo is finished - and there's a couple more hours to help them try and hit their target. And even if they don't, the money raised will go towards finding and setting up again in a new location, should it come to it.It's the latest blow in a year of bad luck for the beloved cafe bar and fringe venue, and comes after a fight with the city council over business rates that would have crippled the place.Mello Mello may not be a theatre, and might be better known for its gig calendar; but it holds regular events for groups like Impropriety and What We Did Next, as well as monthly poetry and performance nights with the usually transient ad hoc poet Tony Chestnut Brown and the Legion of Doom Comedy Knight among others, as well as employing a number city actors and performers behind the bar and much more besides. So if you've a fiver to spare today or maybe more, have a think about supporting one of Liverpool's most vibrant, fun and creative  independent businesses. It might be a place we just can't afford to lose.Read more about the campaign to Keep Mello Mello here.
