Liverpool Arts Society to host immersive 1920s event

A free and "completely immersive" 1920s themed event takes place in the city this week, courtesy of Liverpool Arts Society and their latest happening, Prohibit. For one night only, they'll be taking audiences to 1920s New York and stepping into a living, breathing speakeasy called 'Jimmy's Place'.The entry will be through EBGBs on Seel Street, which we're promised will be filled to the brim with "jazz, swing, booze and characters - wise guys, flapper girls, dockers, soldiers, and many more".There will be live music all night from local musicians playing songs of old and new putting their own twist on the 1920s theme. Artists will be showcasing and selling their work out of old leather suitcases as the event puts its own stamp on an art fair.... and secret rooms will give audience a one-to-one immersive experience with gang leader 'Johnny Falcone' and other characters.They say: "Make sure your name is on that list though, you don't want to miss out on Liverpool's first real immersive scene."It all takes place this Friday night (July 14) from 8pm. Free tickets are available from Eventbrite. Liverpool Arts Society has been running events in the city for the past six months, getting more creative with each event.Founder Alex Medlicott explains: "We’re creating an event that is musical, theatrical and artistic. It is an event that brings all corners of the industry together to create work that is firstly entertaining and secondly engaging and interactive. "This is the type of art that pulls people away from their phones and computer screens. This is the type of art that provokes memories and thoughts and immerses audiences into a different world."
