Liverpool Light Night returns

There's another Light Night coming up, the after-hours culture event with exciting and unusual happenings for all the family across the city. More than 50 special events will be taking place across Liverpool's museums and art spaces into the night on Friday, May 13. Organised by Open Culture, it is part of a national campaign called Museums at Night, when museums and galleries around the country will stay open late staging various activities. Visitors of all ages are invited to follow an exciting trail of events at hot spots around the city centre, including exhibitions, choirs, bands, theatre, historical talks, radical walks, a candlelit labyrinth, extravagant makeovers and the launch of Look11: Liverpool’s first International Photography Festival. Some of the highlights include the launch of Liverpool International Carnival, with 100 dancers, musicians, giant costumes and puppets (starting at 5pm on Paradise Street, next to John Lewis);  Radical makeovers at Peaches & Cream make up parlour on Dale Street, during their live art exhibition between 5pm -7pm;  a craft and vintage fair at Liverpool CUC from 6pm – 10pm, with aftershow party until 2am; Sense of Sound choir at the Anglican Cathedral  from 8pm; and a candlelit labyrinth at LJMU Art & Design Academy, with live music, and star gazing opportunities from the university’s astrophysicists from 8.15pm until 11.00pm.
