MDI presents screening and talk with director Alex Ruben

Merseyside Dance Initiative hosts a screening, talk and question and answer session with director Alex Ruben tomorrow (Monday, November 21). His film NEWSREEL 1 is described as " a poetic recording of social, cultural and political events from the streets of London... ex-DJ Reuben's skilled sound recording and fluid camerawork expertly reveal the beauty of spontaneous natural movement, such as dancing at an Eritrean wedding, protestors marching against government cuts, a good old pub sing-along about Tony Blair and George Bush and choreographer Rosemary Lee's wonderful Square Dance." Ruben says on his website: "Newsreel is a series of movies about London. They do not have spoken word or titles. There are sounds of people, songs, streets and rivers, pictures of movement, buildings, performance and prayer.
