White Christmas launch at the Empire

White Christmas launch at the Empire

Ordinarily the beginning of October would be a perfectly acceptable time for the Empire to start decking the halls, wheeling out Aled 'Walking in the Air' Jones and getting excited about the launch of its Christmas show, but nobody was really expecting a full on Indian summer to make proceedings ever-so-slightly ludicrous. No matter, today Jones and his White Christmas co-star Adam Cooper gamely posed in Santa hats to get in the spirit of the occasion as they met the press. Described as a "multi million pound festive spectacular", their show runs at the theatre from 22 December 22 until January 7 2012, taking the place of the traditional family panto. Brimming with classic Irving Berlin hits like Blue Skies, How Deep is the Ocean, Happy Holiday, Sisters and of course the unforgettable title song White Christmas, it tells the story of two buddies putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn, and finding their perfect partners in the process.  It's all bound to be just the tonic when the nights, and the seasonal affective disorder, draw in. Here's a clip of the show on Broadway: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgvuWaFJbN8?wmode=transparent]
