It was always a matter of time, and today the Liverpool Empire announced it will be staging hit witchy musical Wicked - and you've got until next September to wait. Tickets quite fittingly go on sale on Halloween. The 'untold story of the Witches of Oz', Wicked is one of the most popular West End musicals ever; the record-breaking London production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it is already the 15th longest-running musical in West End theatre history. In addition, the show is currently on its first ever UK tour, so quite what took them so long to get round to us, who knows. We're a bit behind - Wicked has already been seen by over 38 million people around the world and has nice productions running concurrently. It is now in its 10th anniversary year on Broadway; the West End production is now in its 8th year and will shortly celebrate its 3000th performance.
