The Everyman and Playhouse's young people's company YEP has been on a roll over the last 18 months, and last night unveiled yet another string to its bow with the launch of Scene Change, a new networking and performance night for young creatives. YEP has steadily been expanding to incorporate not just young actors, but those interested in all strands of theatre-making, and this includes the relatively new Young Producers strand. The event, that will take place every other month, is their idea. Scene Change is for young people aged between 18 and 26, and is open to all creative talent, from writers to artists, magicians to musicians, comedians to costume designers - anyone willing to share their work with each other (and the public) in the Playhouse Studio. YEP Producers - Doug Bolton, Alecia Marshall, Martin Poile and Saira Kewley - envisage collaborations resulting from the performance evenings as those who come and watch and those who perform each find the perfect ingredient for their project; such as a film-maker seeing a monologue performed and wanting to turn it into a short film, or directors finding behind-the-scenes talent like set designers as a result of connections made at the event. Matt Rutter, one half of Big Wow and director of YEP, said: "Scene Change will forge links within the arts community, sharing skills, projects and initial ideas to encourage new work amongst young people." There will also be a £100 bursary scheme open to those who need financial backing to help realise their project. Anyone looking to take part in Scene Change does not have to be a member of YEP. The next events will be held on November 21 and 22; for more information, contact YEPproducers@everymanplayhouse.com.
