You're having a Llaugh

For a taste of top comedy in more exotic climes, the Llangollen Comedy festival begins tonight and runs through the weekend. It's not often this site heads out of town, but we'll make an exception for Crosby ex-pat Silky, who began the event last year and has gained kudos for getting some big names over to North Wales.

This year, Ed Byrne and Craig Campbell are headlining the fest, based at Llangollen Pavilion, and among those scheduled to appear are Alun Cochrane, Peep Show's Isy Suttie, Ray Peacock and Ed Gamble in Peacock & Gamble's Emergency Broadcast, Twitter legend Gary Delaney, Welsh comic Tudur Owen and for family entertainment, Big Howard and Little Howard.

And then there's this: Silky says "we’ve added mystery bills on both Thursday and Friday June 9 and 10, to ensure as many people as possible enjoy the feast of laughs this year. You may not know in advance who is performing but you are guaranteed a familiar name or two in the line-up. Last year you could have seen, for example, John Bishop, in a seventy seater room, for only seven quid.”

The Guardian described the 2010 line-up as “the envy of its much larger peers”. Tickets and more information can be found at www.llancomedy.com
