Kick Theatre presents a new production of Timberlake Wertenbaker's Our Country’s Good next month.
Directed by Donna Lesley Price, the classic piece is set in Australia in 1789. A young lieutenant is directing rehearsals of the first play ever to be staged in that country, with only two copies of the text, a cast of convicts and one leading lady who may be about to be hanged.
Kick says: “Our Country's Good is a prime example of how theatre can be used to reform and educate to create social change. It is a powerful and touching play with scenes of pathos, drama and great comedic moments which ensures it never loses it's sense of humour.”
Kick is an ensemble of young people aged 17 to 21 with an impressive list of achievements and awards under their belt which has seen them across the North West, including the Isle of Man, as well as sell out performances in 2010 at the Unity Theatre with their double bill Deadly and Our Little Secret.
Our Country’s Good runs at the Lantern Theatre from March 26 to 31.
