Alligator Club heads to Lancaster for Blackout
Theatre is dead. The collective experience is obsolete. The world moved on....So begins Blackout, a new promenade piece from North West professional playwrights collective The Alligator Club. Their first two pieces, 100 Seel Street and Twisted Christmas, were performed in Liverpool last year; this time, they are taking the action to Lancaster.In their dystopian future one theatre has survived; and the audience of Blackout is invited to take the last chance to join a hologram guided tour of the bygone building before it shuts its door forever. As they’re taken through the hidden spaces of the Dukes Theatre, they will be introduced to a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs who will attempt to recreate history. What was theatre exactly? What drove our 21st Century ancestors to leave the comfort of their own homes to spend three hours in the sweating darkness? An unexpected tale begins to unfold....The Alligator Club looks to strengthen links between writers and theatres in the different regions and build a supportive connected community of writers throughout the North West.If you're in Lancaster this week,you can catch Blackout on Thursday and Friday March 14 and 15.
