Alligator Club's Twisted Christmas

Following hot on the heels of their debut production earlier in the month, playwrights collective The Alligator Club present a last-minute addition to the city's festive theatre schedule next week with Twisted Christmas.The two performances at the Playhouse Studio on Friday and Saturday (December 21 and 22) have, like their previous 100 Seel Street promenade piece, already sold out on word of mouth alone, so keep an eye out for possible returns over the next couple of days.They describe it thus: "This sinister little show is packed full of live music, magic, black comedy and debauchery, and is strictly for adults only. Hear the carols you know and love flipped on their heads and take in four new wickedly dark tales for a very modern Christmas."The show has been produced by playwrights Andrew Ness (Red Panda), Kellie Smith (The Sum of Parts, Homeowners and I) Anne Irvine (The Twelve ), with the help of Everyman and Playhouse alumnus Laurence Wilson (Urban Legend, Blackberry Trout Face).The cast features local actors Aisling Leyne, Joe Shipman, Mike Neary and Stephanie Greer, and will also feature actor/ musician David Hewson.Director John Ward said: ‘It's great to be working with a collective of writers on an alternative Christmas show because the material is so utterly endless. You can hit all the high notes; from the monstrous to the sublime. And with audiences always up for a theatrical romp come the holidays - Twisted Christmas will not disappoint!’ The Alligator Club plans to produce a series of six pop up theatre shows in a variety of challenging and inspiring spaces across the region over the next 12 months.Theatre partners include the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, the Royal Exchange in Manchester, the Bolton Octagon, Theatre by the Lake, The Dukes Lancaster and The Arts Organisation.
