An Everyday Apocalypse...
The end of the world is coming to Liverpool this month, in a new play performing at four fringe venues across the city.An Everyday Apocalypse tells the story of Crosby couple Rob and Maya Lewis, whose marriage is on the rocks after ten years of disappointment. However, unlike your average not-so-newlyweds these two have to work through their issues in the middle of a full-blown apocalypse, with a crowd of hungry zombies milling around in their driveway and an even more dangerous secret lurking in their past.The play is directed by Liverpool Media Academy graduate and Litherland resident Zara Brown and stars Huyton-based David Ward, former Young Everyman Playhouse actress Harriet Wilson and Southport's James Dorman, who took on the title role in the Liverpool Network Theatre production of Dracula at the Lantern Theatre in 2015. Even the writer, Thomas Oléron Evans -currently based in London and Strasbourg -has roots in the area, since his mother was born and raised in Bootle.An Everyday Apocalypse is one of seven short plays that have been selected for performance at the Page to Stage Festival, a celebration of new theatrical writing, now underway until April 17. The brainchild of local writer and actor John Mc, this will be the second edition of the festival, following a successful run in 2014 with plays including Sarah Lowes’ My Afternoon with Bruce Lee and Ian Salmon’s Venus Rising.Tickets for An Everyday Apocalypse cost £7, with a special double-bill performance (back-to-back with tense Orwellian thriller Welcome to Paradise Road) on April 14 at Fruit & Fibres Canteen priced at £14.50, where the price of admission includes as many plates of scouse as you can manage!Tickets all the plays in the festival can be purchased on the door or online via www.pagetostage.org.uk.Catch An Everyday Apocalypse this Friday (April 8) at the Quaker Meeting House on School Lane; April 9 (2pm) and 13 (1.30pm) at Small Cinema on Victoria Street; and April at 7pm at Fruit & Fibres on Norfolk Street.
