Big Howard Little Howard brings kids comedy to Laughterhouse

City comedy club Laughterhouse is branching into something new this weekend with its first family show on Saturday afternoon - Little Howard and the Magic Pencil of Life and Death.

Interactive stand-up, 3D animation and an all-singing, all-dancing stage show are the orders of the day for this festive matinee performance, which is, we're assured, guaranteed to delight children and adults alike. I've always wanted to see Big Howard and Little Howard but never done so, so I've no idea how Howard Read pulls off this half-human, half-cartoon double act live. Read, otherwise known as Big Howard, is a comedian, writer, illustrator and actor. Together with his creation Little Howard, their CBBC show was recently commissioned by the Beeb for a second and third series, and Laughterhouse reckons this is a perfect time for grown up comedy fans to share all the things they love about stand up with the kiddies. This show picks up with animated cheeky chappy Little Howard uncovering the existence of the pencil that drew him. Unfortunately, he also discovers the eraser at the other end and the dark force that threatens to rub out our hero forever! Sounds good to me. It's their last show of 2010, and is at regular Laughterhouse venue, Lenny's Bar and Grill on Sir Thomas Street, at 2pm on Saturday (December 11). Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £7 children, from 0151 227 5946 or www.laughterhousecomedy.com
