Dearly Beloved, a two-day Improvathon

Royal wedding, shmedding. Those merry pranksters Impropriety are going all out for their annual Improvathon this weekend, that will see them performing for 2011 minutes - that's more than 33 hours - non-stop. Dearly Beloved is their third undertaking of this kind, and will be set at, as you'd imagine, a day of nuptuals. Starting on Saturday afternoon and finishing on Sunday night, and featuring performers from the UK, Ireland and America, the cast will forego the luxuries of rest, relaxation and sleep to continually perform a soap opera of 17 two-hour episodes. The final episode, beginning at 9pm on Sunday (May 15) promises to: "bring the narrative to a thrilling conclusion, which remains top-secret even among the cast – largely because none of the story is scripted beforehand!" Based on a format created and made popular by Canadian company DIE-Nasty, who have held an annual 50-hour “Soap-a-thon” for almost 20 years, Impropriety’s artistic director, Rosie Wilkinson explains: "With the performers under the effects of sleep deprivation, they lose the ability to censor their performances. This leads to some truly remarkable theatre being created, which due to its nature, will never be seen again. Some of the funniest and most heartbreaking theatre I have seen has been during improvathons." The first episode of Dearly Beloved will begin on Saturday (May 14) at 1p,m through to the final episode beginning 9pm the following evening. Audiences are free to join the story at any point and to stay for as little or as long as they wish. Each episode begins with the ‘story so far’, so you won’t miss anything. Although Impropriety say parental guidance is advised, they are having a "family episode" suitable for all between 11am and 1pm on Sunday. It all takes place at the Kazimier, Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool, with episodes beginning on odd numbered hours: 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, all through the night. Entry is £5 per episode; £25 for a full 33 & 1/2 hour pass that allows you to come and go as you please.
