Go Polar at the Phil
Polar combines stunning HD footage from award-winning natural history filmmakers with live music to take the audience on a journey to the Arctic and Antarctic regions of our planet. It showcases an originally commissioned film of the regions captured by husband and wife team Doug Allen and Sue Flood and Canadian polar explorer and climate change expert Mark Terry. Featuring footage of some of the world’s most beautiful and rare sights including the aurora borealis, penguin rookeries, and polar bear cubs frolicking in the snow on a massive 32ft wide screen, the film is the work of individuals outstanding in their field. Mark Terry said: “This is a truly unique production which showcases the unparalleled beauty of the polar regions, giving everyone the chance to see such rare and incredible sights to the tune of the internationally renowned RLPO. It has been wonderful to have the opportunity to get involved with Polar and to see my footage become a part of such an exquisite film. We are certainly counting down the days until Polar’s world premiere in Liverpool and I am looking forward to seeing where the show goes from here.” Combined with the RLPO's classical and original score conducted by celebrated composer John Harle, Polar is described as "a feast for the senses and a family favourite for wildlife lovers of all ages".
