It's Liza (on an E)
If the touring production of Cabaret currently in town has you pining for Liza, there's a chance to see an act that "captures the soul and craziness of Minnelli" in Liverpool next month. Following his West End debut earlier this year, Australian star Trevor Ashley is back in the UK and heading for the Auditorium at the Echo Arena with his acclaimed West End show, Liza (on an E). Fans of fabulous things will be gutted to learn that unfortunately the October 5 show clashes with this year's Vogue Ball. Ashley is a well-known cabaret performer home in Oz and has starred in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hairspray and many more besides. Described as "controversial, wickedly funny yet also touchingly affectionate", Liza (on an E), which debuted in London earlier in the year, takes a sideways look at everything from the iconic diva's marriage to Broadway song-and-dance legend Peter Allen to her pill popping and crazy showbiz family - dishing the dirt on an extraordinary life. Accompanied by a live onstage band, Ashley performs Liza’s greatest hits, including Cabaret, Maybe This Time and New York New York, together with several parody songs. Tickets are on sale now from echoarena.com or 0844 8000 400.
