Theatre company said&done presents its debut production this week, of Bash: Latter Day Plays, by American playwright Neil LaBute.  Greek myths meet contemporary American sensibility in Labute’s trilogy of one-act plays, exploring the extremes to which people can be driven in response to fear, pain and religious conviction. In Iphigenia in Orem, a business man confesses to a moment of madness when the financial future of his family is threatened; a young couple recall a weekend in New York from two very different perspectives in A Gaggle of Saints; and a young mother takes the ultimate revenge on her high school ‘sweetheart’ in Medea Redux. Bash: Latter Day Plays will be the first production of one of Liverpool’s newest theatre companies; said&done was established in February by a group of young artists whose wish is to develop a company of young graduates and seasoned professionals who can learn from working and creating work together. Directed by Gillian Lemon (director of Lodestar Theatre Company’s award-winning Hedwig and the Angry Inch) Bash runs at the Unity from tomorrow (June 19) until  Friday (June 22). Lemon said: “We are dedicated to telling extraordinary stories and producing material that is rarely performed in Liverpool. We want to make theatre for a generation of people who are excited and challenged by the world they live in and have something to say about it. Neil Labute’s Bash ticks all those boxes; it isn’t always comfortable, but it’s real.” The cast includes Rachel Rae, who played Juliet in Lodestar Theatre Company’s 2011 production of Romeo and Juliet, and as a regular at The Royal Court Theatre she has appeared in Stage & Hens, Lucky Numbers, Merry Ding Dong, Scouse Pacific and Little Scouse on the Prairie; and Simon Hedger, a core member of Lodestar Theatre Company. Tickets available now from the Unity Theatre Box Office, or by calling 0844 873 2888, or by booking online at www.unitytheatreliverpool.co.uk
