Christmas? Oh, go on then. Let's get things started. MADEUP hasn't accidentally wandered into Desperate Scousewives territory – pictured above are former X Factor finalists DivaFever, the headline act of brand new festive variety show Camp as Christmas.

Ta daa! Pink! Glitter! Apart from having the best name for anything possibly ever, with Diva Fever involved the event is bound to live up to its name before things have even started. Don’t believe me? Watch their performance below if you dare. Camp as Christmas is a fundraiser as part of a new initiative to help keep the Liverpool Pride festival free next summer. It boasts a line-up of some great local talent, not to mention the charms of the host with the most, the inimitable Rikki Beadle-Blair, last seen compering the Vogue Ball. Joining our X Factor boys are Adam Lyons and AJ Dance, Pride favourites  FTW, Judy and Liza’s Emma Dears, all-girl acappella group Barbie Shop as well as Kaz and Britney, who will perform special excerpts from their brand new production Scottie Road The Musical. We’re promised the audience will also have the opportunity to see Liverpool’s drag queens as they’ve never seen them before, as well as a few surprise acts on the night. If you want to make a night of it, the audience is invited to mix ‘n’ mingle before the show with a complimentary cocktail and banter with pre-show hosts and ‘usherettes’ for the evening Kandi Kane, Charlene O’Neil and Disney Dixon who will get the audience into the festive spirit, with songs from Liverpool’s LGBT choir and VJing from Sandi Hughes, who will also show her projections 'Gayzin Roots n Queerwings', in honour of the people who make Liverpool's gay community special. There will also be stalls, games, and food and drink. The bars will also remain open after the show, when the stage will become a dance floor, complete with DJ, for the audience to stay and soak up the atmosphere or dance the night away, Camp as Christmas style. Debbie Boyd, director at Orb Events and organiser of Camp as Christmas said “I’m so excited to present Camp as Christmas as the first Liverpool Pride fundraiser, and we hope that it will raise lots of money to go towards the festival in 2012. Camp as Christmas is going to be an amazing and fun event for everyone to enjoy and the plan is to make it an annual occasion, the perfect alternative Christmas night out for grown-ups to enjoy together.” Auntie Marlene, recently named Drag Queen of the Year, said: “This show is definitely something that Liverpool’s LGBT community needs. It’s going to be a delightful, funny and very entertaining evening and I can’t wait to be in it. This show is not to be missed." Camp as Christmas takes place on Saturday, December 17 at the newly reopened venue The Dome in Grand Central Hall on Renshaw Street. Tickets are £12.50, with group discounts. You can book now in person without any booking fees at The Barcelona Bar, and also book at Liverpool Echo Arena box office or The Dome Grand Central hotline at 0844 809 4620 or online on www.thedomegrandcentral.com (Booking fee may apply). [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FCtXE4MiWw?wmode=transparent]
