Brand new Christmas show Mam! I'm 'Ere announced
Some of the best known faces on the Liverpool stage have announced they are teaming up for a brand new Christmas show this year. Stephen Fletcher, Andrew Schofield, Eithne Brown, Alan Stocks, Helen Carter, Rachel Rae, Keddy Sutton and Paul Duckworth will all be appearing in Mam! I’m ‘Ere!, a Christmas disco show currently being devised by the cast. They say nobody had been approached with offers of work over the festive season this year -- which begs the question quite who will be accompanying David Gest on stage at the Royal Court. Mam! I’m ‘Ere, as you may have guessed, is a take on the Abba musical Mama Mia, with a bit of a twist. Sally was abandoned as a tiny baby on her dad’s doorstep. Twenty-three years on, she is getting married to her childhood sweetheart ,Si and longs to have her mum alongside her for her special day. After digging into her dad’s little black book, and teasing out stories from his best mates, she has narrowed her search down to three very different women from his past. Believing they’ve won a mystery, all-expenses paid, glamorous mini-break away, the three ‘mums’ find themselves walking onto a creaky caravan site, greeted by an old flame some of them would rather forget, and right into Sally’s trap. It’s the biggest show to date for Stephen Fletcher’s Life In Theatre Productions, following on from the recent The Last 5 Years, and David Mamet’s comedy A Life In The Theatre earlier in the year. The company is moving out of the Actors’ Studio, where all performances have taken place so far, and into the Dome on Renshaw Street. “Christmas wouldn’t feel the same without being with everyone,” Fletcher says. Aw. We know what he means (so again, it will be interesting to find out what's happening over at the Royal Court, where everyone can usually be found). He adds: “I have worked a number of times with every actor in this play. They are some of the nicest, generous, talented and funny people I have ever met. It is a dream to work with all of them at the same time. I can’t wait. It will be the most exciting project I will have ever worked on. “At every Christmas show I have worked on with many of this year’s cast, the audiences always say that the relationship between us all is what they enjoy the most and how much fun we all look like we’re having. It’s lovely to know you’re giving people a good time.” Christmas disco? Who could resist? The show runs from December 7 to January 12, and tickets (all £15 plus fees) are on sale now from: www.lifeintheatre.ticketsource.co.uk/ or 08448700887 (9am-7pm weekdays, and 9am-5pm Saturdays)
