Liverpool Jesus Christ Superstar return postponed

"Jesus Christ, what a bugger," Tim Minchin blogged today, passing on the news that the Jesus Christ Superstar tour that was was to return to Liverpool next month has been postponed. It seems that the chance to take the tour international was something that couldn't have waited a couple of weeks - with producers RUG and AEG claiming the decision is, curiously, at once both "beyond their control" and "largely due to the enormous demand across the globe", with tours in Australia, Europe and the USA to be announced soon. The brilliant arena musical was due back in Liverpool on March 15 with the original cast from the show that first came round last October - Ben Forster, Mel C, Minchin and Chris Moyles. It has been confirmed they will all be returning for the new dates in the autumn."I know this is going to properly dick with many of your plans, and I’m really sorry, for what it’s worth," Minchin wrote. "It’s a right pain-in-the-perfect-butts for the cast, and was a very difficult decision for Andrew and the folk at RUG. I really hope you can come to the rescheduled dates... It’ll be worth the wait, I reckon." Anything, anything for you, my darling."Getting loads of tweets asking if I will be on the uk dates.Try stop me! Didn't fight for the role to let it go! #therewithbellson," Ben Forster said on Twitter today, although Mel C and Chris Moyles have been largely using the medium to help Baby Spice find her lost dog (this is how you do journalism these days, right?).The show will now return to the Echo arena on October 15, and original tickets are still valid, with new tickets on sale from Feb 15. Meanwhile, I console myself with this pretty much NSFW clip of everyone's favourite Judas once again stealing the show in the new series of HBO's Californication. Warning: contains a peek of Minchin bum, Duchovny puke and general 'adult themes'.
