MDI's over 50s to perform at Sadler's Wells

Two older people's dance companies who perform as part of Merseyside Dance Initiative have been chosen to take part in a national festival at specialist London venue Sadler's Wells. The groups, Growing Older (Dis)Gracefully (or GODS, pictured), and MDI’s over 50s class 50 Moves, will participate in the Elixir Festival, happening in September. The festival is hosted by the Company of Elders, Sadler’s Wells resident company for over 60s, and is held to celebrate lifelong creativity and the legacy of older artists whose catalogue of work has changed the art form and continues to influence the future of dance. GODS and 50 Moves work independently and are currently linked by choreographer Jennifer Hale, whose work with both groups will be presented at Sadler’s Wells. Each group shares a passion for dance and the influence it has had on their lifestyle, enabling friendships to grow and inspiring confidence in each individual. Jennifer says: "Performing at Elixir Festival is an amazing opportunity for these women, to share their work, as well as to meet and discuss this with others working in the dance community. Two groups from Liverpool being selected to perform at this event highlights the quality of work being created and produced in the region and its ability to inspire individuals, groups and communities through dance."
