New horror play Tongues at 81 Renshaw

It’s more like grim theatre than Grin Theatre next week, as the new writing company takes things in a different direction with their first horror play.Tongues, by regular writer Wes Williams is, he says: “Not just a question of scaring people or even grossing the audience out, it’s about the power of language, the power of corruption and ultimately the power of evil.”Williams is the writer behind previous Grin productions Sweats, Mexico and Push. The show is directed by Tony Blaney and features some regular faces from the company, including Helen Kerr, Paul Culshaw, Eddie Fortune and Dale Grant.“Look beyond the shadows and the darkness of the play and each of the four characters develop as whole and rounded if dangerously flawed persona throughout,” promises Williams. It all takes place from April 4 to 6 at 81 Renshaw, on Renshaw Street in the city centre. Tickets are £5.50 on the door, from 7pm.
