Noises Off comes to Liverpool Royal Court
There's two interesting new faces joining the Royal Court family next month, for a brand new production of the classic Noises Off.Kim Hartman - Helga off of 'Allo 'Allo to you and me - and former Coronation Street actress Tupele Dorgu are joining theatre regulars Stephen Fletcher and Danny O'Brien (currently starring in Bouncers). The cast is completed by Jonathan Markwood (Lennon), Jessica Dyas (Lennon 2013), Christopher Jordan (In The Flesh, BBC3) and Jennifer Bea (Beside the Seaside, Unity Theatre), under director Bob Eaton.Michael Frayn's 1982 acclaimed backstage farce Noises Off takes place hours before opening night of the dubious-sounding romp Nothing On, and the cast are rushing through a final dress rehearsal. The group of loveably useless actors are trying their best to get the show on the road but the missed entrances, forgotten lines, big egos and several bottles of whiskey don’t help.Dotty’s lost the plot, Garry’s lost his rag and Brooke’s lost her clothes. Selsdon’s off his face and Freddie’s about as much use as Joe Anderson’s comb (it says 'ere). Stage management are having a breakdown and the director is leading the way but... as they say, the show must go on...Kevin Fearon, chief exec of Royal Court Liverpool said: “Noises Off is a really well known play in theatre circles and it’s one I’ve had my eye on for a while. It’s a really funny show and it gives the audience a look behind the scenes. It’s not usually as chaotic as this though, we promise...”Noises Off runs from September 5 to October 4.
