One last look inside the Everyman
This afternoon the Everyman was open to the public for the final time. The backstage area was opened up to nose around, the lobby was being painted by a cartoonist, 'undertakers' were wandering the building, and in the auditorium, a simple but effective idea -- lots of suitcase labels hanging all around for people to write their memories on. Some were intense (one simply said "brought me back from the darkness"), others, like the lady recalling watching Neil Morrissey in Macbeth, were hilarious. The one in a child's handwriting, promising to come back when they were famous captured the spirit of the occasion. Today is a sad day, but it's not the end.
