Pamela Anderson arrives in Liverpool

The Empire has announced the arrival of Pamela Anderson to our little city this afternoon, as she prepares to take to the panto stage there from tomorrow. And she sounds game, apparently being heard to mutter: "I’ll be finding my local pub and also getting some chips with vinegar... and I hope I will get a chance to visit the Cavern." Points for Pam. Apparently she's up for trying Scouse too. Get on it, gerl.

All this is a bit of a contrast to a story recently run in the Daily Mail, revealing Pammy was due to stay in Manchester throughout the panto run because nowhere here was good enough for her. It turns out not only was that a poor excuse to stoke up a nice bit of anti-Liverpool sentiment on the comment boards ("I'm not surprised - she'll wake up to find they've stolen her chest", was one of the stranger impressions of us), but wasn't even true, despite the moans of an unnamed (read: fictional) 'theatre insider'. I'm told Pam is staying local for the duration and is, predicably, looking forward to hitting the fancy shops. It'll take a lot to dislodge last year's Empire panto star Henry Winkler from Liverpool's affections, but it's nice to see good old Pammy is up for giving it a try.
