Pimento Theatre's Mind the Gap

The Unity kicks off its autumn season next week with the return of an immersive, exploratory work from an up-and-coming Liverpool company. Mind the Gap, from Pimento Theatre - otherwise known as playwrights Ella Greenhill and Joe Ward Munroe - debuted at the theatre last year and returns for seven performances over three days before moving on to dates in Preston. Nina is a young, Liverpool woman on a London tube carriage. When the carriage shudders to a halt it's obvious that something serious has happened. Trapped, Nina and her fellow passengers have to talk - with dramatic consequences. The company says the work invites you to immerse yourself and experience the characters' external and internal thoughts and watch as their interlocking stories unravel; the play explores modern Britain today and the gaps that exist between ourselves and others. Mind the Gap is supported by the Unity Theatre’s Making Art Scheme, Arts Council England, The Kevin Spacey Foundation and Granada Foundation. It has been created by writers Ella Greenhill (2012's 100 Seel Street, Into the Water ),  a former writer on attachment with the Everyman and Playhouse and Paines Plough, and graduate of the Royal Court Studio Writers group - her play A Deafening Silence was shortlisted for the Papatango New Writing Prize; Joe Ward Munrow (Held, 100 Seel Street), a previous writer-on-attachment at the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse and a member of the National Writers Group at the Royal Court, London; and actress Rachel Worsley, who has previously starred in Phil Redmond and Jimmy McGovern's drama Da Boyz. Mind the Gap runs at the Unity from September 11 to 13, with shows at 7pm and 7.30pm, plus a Saturday matinee.
