Puttin'on the Ritz at Liverpool Pride

Life is a cabaret old chum, come to the cabaret! Put down your knitting, your book and your broom boys and girls, organisers of Liverpool Pride announce a fabulous line up of stars to play the Cabaret Stage at Liverpool’s first ever Pride festival, which takes place in and around Liverpool’s Dale St area on Saturday August 7. The Cabaret Stage at Liverpool Pride has been organised in association with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Telent Communications. Revellers can expect an extravaganza of drag, dance and drama as a bevy of glittering performers take to the stage. Don’t miss out on a ‘little bit of action’ as international burlesque star Mille Dollar and her Blue Martini burlesque show will take to the stage in a scintillating performance that will tease and titillate even the most up standing members of society. The Cabaret Stage will also play host to Queer as Talent runner up, dancer Ian Roughley, who will perform one of his dazzling routines, local poet Gerry Potter and performances from local drag legends Lavinia, Belinda Scandal and Lady Sian with her unique rendition of a Lady GaGa smash hit. The UK’s first Drag King Valentino King also gets in on the action with a completely live performance. Fans of the classics are in for a treat as Liverpool’s favourite crooner Alan Cross, performs songs including Patricia the Stripper, Mac the Knife and Americano. Talented tenor and co-owner of Parr St Studios Steve MacFarlane will perform a 20 minute set inspired by idols Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra & Tony Bennett and favourite songwriters including George Gershwin & Irvin Berlin. A raft of show stopping numbers by local girl and West End star Emma Dears, channelling the one and only Miss Liza with a Z, is guaranteed to entertain as she previews her brand new musical production ‘Judy and Liza,’ performing some of Liza Minnelli’s biggest hits including ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Maybe This Time.’ Emma commented ‘“I’m delighted to be involved with Liverpool’s first Pride! I’ve performed at London Pride when I was in the West End and think it’s about time that Liverpool had a Pride of its own. I’m especially excited to perform my Liza, a snapshot of the show we are producing later this year about the lives of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.”
