Rime at the Black-E
Stay with me - here's a piece about a contemporary circus interpretation of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. No, wait! This looks quite incredible... Rime, from Square Peg productions, is an award-winning 60 minute performance co-commissioned by the National Theatre. It has been seen at London's Roundhouse theatre, where they are associate artists, the Edinburgh Fringe, and Bestival, and comes to the Black-E next month as part of its first large scale tour. Set on a majestic reproduction of a ship, a mast becomes the centre piece for the performers to balance on and hang off of as they combine rope and ribbon, human tower and tumbling, weaving the narrative of the epic poem throughout.Described as "visually striking family entertainment", it comes to Liverpool on March 22.
