Sex, booze and Jimmy Choos
After a successful run in 2009, the Unity theatre is welcoming back award-winning local company Boom Boom Baby Productions with their comedy production If The Shoe Fits!. With the tagline "sex, booze and Jimmy Choos!", the play - which been made into a feature film due to be released next year - centres on the staff of Goody 2 Shooz. Sally’s having marital problems but could do without any of the dubious advice offered by tart with a heart Chas; Daphne and Jamie are guaranteed to make a crisis out of a drama; and the glue that holds it all together is Liz, the gossipy mother hen. When a bombshell is dropped will they all stick together like a well-made Louboutin, or fall apart like a Primark Ugg boot? There is only one course of action for this motley crew - a quick drink... Written by local playwrite Donna Lesley Price, whose Excess Baggage was performed as part of the recent Write Now festival, If the Shoe Fits! is directed by Richie Grice and stars local talent including Al T Kosser, Lesley Hughes, James William Watts, Angie Waller and Trevor Fleming. It is a past winner of the Ray Kingsley Award for best comedy and runs at the Unity from June 7 to 11.
