Sink or Swim for Spike Theatre
Great news for Spike Theatre, which now has everything in place to tour its latest show, Sink or Swim, early next year. The show was performed as a work in progress as part of the Everyword festival a few months back, and will return to the Playhouse Studio from February 18 to 23. Sink or Swim is especially important to the Liverpool-based company, as it marks not just their 15th anniversary but their 20th show. The touring production will star local favourites Paul Duckworth (Mam I'm Ere), Graham Hicks (the Anfield Home Tour) and Shaun Mason, and the tale is set in the 18th century, where bedlam houses are full and the ‘ships of fools’ are born.En-route to America, our hapless victims find themselves running for the lifeboats when they come under attack and their ship is sunk. As the icy dawn breaks and with only a single oar, they find themselves alone and going around in circles, battling the elements, each other and a leaking lifeboat.Described as being "based in fact and with a heavy dose of fiction", Sink or Swim is an insanely comic tale of tales and three men and their maddening struggles at sea.
