The story of Spoonface Steinberg

The story of Spoonface Steinberg

A one-woman play exploring the world of a child with cancer comes to the Lantern Theatre this weekend. Spoonface Steinberg comes from the pen of Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall.  Originally written as a radio play broadcast on Radio 4, such was the public response to the piece, it was later adapted for TV and stage. 'Spoonface’ (Rebecca Fenwick) is an eight-year-old autistic girl diagnosed with cancer, and the show  investigates her world and shares her honest and uplifting views on faith, love, and the meaning of life and death. A new touring production by Freerange Theatre, they say the show is never self-pitying or sentimental, and Spoonface helps to familiarise unfamiliar views and helps us to appreciate the beauty in the world. The play takes place on Saturday (June 8) and will be followed by a question and answer session with the Freerange team, a professional, small-scale touring company co-founded in 2001 by Hugo Chandor, who also directs this show.  Full tour details and more information about the production can be found at freerangetheatre.co.uk.
