The trials and tribulations of Gregory Bike

Play With Myself is a new comedy show previewing in Liverpool tomorrow (July 11) at 81 Renshaw Street before its writer, performer and director Liam Hale takes it up to the Edinburgh Fringe. A character comedy parodying the world of theatre - "featuring parental love, tragedy, bizarre gypsy curses, dead dogs and buzz saws...", it sez 'ere - the show features the characters of Gregory Bike and his son Trev, who have been performed over the past year at local Liverpool comedy and scratch nights including Scribble’s 'Sketching Out' at House Bold Street, Shiny New Comedy at the Lantern Theatre, The Legion of Doom’s Comedy Knight at Mello Mello, Embryo at 81 Renshaw Street and Scene Change at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre. Play With Myself 's plot revolves around 'drama practitioner' Gregory Bike being tasked with putting on a play. Not only must he write, direct, and act in his masterpiece but Greg also has to find love, avoid seeing his son's presumably awful performances and avoid an early death at the hands of fairground attractions. The performance consists of a small group of actors playing a number of roles and using a wide-range of comedy styles ranging from slapstick to musical. After the Liverpool preview, Play With Myself will be performed as part of the PBH Free Fringe from August 2 to 23 at the Dragonfly in Edinburgh at 2pm. Follow the show on Twitter at @GregBikeShow and Facebook.
