Wonderland: The Trials of Alice

You might have caught a bit of Wonderland: The Trials of Alice being performed in the council chamber of Liverpool town hall during the Light Night celebrations on Friday. Described as "a brand new piece of writing, re-exploring Wonderland and what it can mean for the modern woman", the play will be performed in full on May 25 and 26 in The Studio Theatre at Edge Hill University. It is a new work by Edge of Your Seat Productions, a group of final year drama students. Artistic director Philip McGuinness says: "We believe it is a fantastic time to produce a piece of brilliant theatre of  Alice in Wonderland as in 2012 it is 180 years since the birth of Lewis Carroll, 160 years since Alice Liddell [the inspiration for the book] was born and 150 years since the story of Alice was created. We believe this is the year for Alice’s story to be re-imagined and we want to share this with the people of the North West and rebuild this magical world." Edge of Your Seat are the first students in the last ten years that have produced full scale production work outside of any performing arts courses at Edge Hill University, and they are working to secure funding from the uni to hire external venues and perform their show on a professional stage.  For tickets and more information, visit here.
