Ten reasons to go to the (Vogue) ball

The Vogue Ball returns to Liverpool this weekend, and from the buzz it already sounds as if the event -- the fourth of its kind in the city -- will be the biggest and best yet. Here, in no discernable order, are ten good reasons to get your ass down there. 10. Twisted FairytalesThere's a different theme to every Vogue Ball. Last year's death by glitter, for example, had us coughing up shiny stuff for days after. This year's twisted fairytales theme, with its 'from Disney to Diva' tagline, could see the stakes of glamour raised even higher. The striking photography from Matt Ford (above) always sets the tone perfectly. 9. The choreographyIf you go to the Vogue Ball expecting a club night, you're in for a surprise, as for the most part, those taking part with have rehearsed some painstakingly impressive contemporary dance choreographies that will knock your socks off. If you fancy a go yourself, the catwalk opens to all at the end. 8. The tunesMore US house and R'n'B than you could shake a stick at, as well as camp catwalk anthems galore. Think RuPaul, and this: 7. FizzThe Vogue Ball has been held in a different venue every year, but Camp and Furnace could be the most ideal home yet, largely because it has a Champagne bar, which is something any self-respecting diva should demand as a matter of course. 6. CostumesYou can't just turn up in any old thing, you know. Make an effort! 5. Something for the girls... 4. ...And something for the boys....(A reminder the ball is an over 18s only event, as the erotica section among others can get a little steamy) 3. Because everyone loves this: 2. Rikki Beadle BlairHost for the evening Rikki Beadle Blair, has, to use the TV parlance, made the Liverpool Vogue Ball his own. With buckets of style, sass and sexiness, Rikki was born to entertain and brings such positive vibes to the event, you could just weep with joy. 1. House of SuarezThere'd be no event at all without city dancer Darren Suarez, who has built the ball up into what is undoubtably one of the hottest tickets of the year. Don't miss it.
