The Vogue Ball returns
It's not every day you go to the movies and you get a Vogue-off thrown in, but so it was at FACT last night, where before the showing of cult dance film Leave it on the Floor we were treated to a little show by House of Suarez, there to promote their upcoming ball. Leave it on the Floor was the final screening of this year's Pride season at FACT, a great little collection of weird and wonderful films that are seldom seen on the big screen. And it really was something else -- I haven't been so helplessly amused at a so-bad-it's-good-sexy-rock-musical-type-thing since I accidentally watched Purple Rain after a bottle and a half of Pinot Noir. Example -- here's one of the main characters Princess Eminence, breaking into a song about Justin Timberlake in a food court: The film was chosen as thoughts turn to the annual Vogue Ball, undoubtedly THE best night out you will have in Liverpool all year (well, MADEUP certainly thinks so). This year, it's happening at Camp and Furnace on Saturday, October 6 with a Twisted Fairytales theme. The Vogue Ball is a dance event like no other in the UK – where club culture meets high art and Vogue teams (houses) come together from far and wide to compete for dance supremacy. There are 6 heats performed before a celebrity panel of judges, which this year will include gypsy dressmaker Thelma Madine.
