Canary Cage is go-go go!

Naughty but nice burlesque night The Canary Cage has returned to its Baby Blue home and is celebrating in style. A mix of the gothic, variety and cheeky vintage style, it sounds like the evening, run by Kelly Coalmine, is something a bit different on the scene. The Canary Cage partnered up with Mathew Street venue Mo*Niques earlier in the year, but decided there's no place like home and came back to its old haunt and at the end of June, relaunching its new programme of events at the Albert Dock venue with Living Dolls (pictured), music, dance, comedy, magic, burlesque demonstrations, boudoir makeovers, photo shoots, henna tattooing, stilt walkers, a fortune teller, and of course, their Canaries. A cabaret taster show, hosted by Mr Frisk featured 12 performances including burlesque from Penny Farthing, gypsy Bhangra from Francois the Gypsy, a Harry Potter inspired boy-lesque routine, magic from Dave Alnwick, a socially inept clown, walking on glass from Monster Cirque and a ballet routine. Kurt Fox & The Cubs provided the music for the evening, as guests sampled cupcakes and sweets served on vintage china plates, and sipped on special Canary cocktails and Frisky shots. Sound good? Don't miss the next event on on Sunday, July 31, which will have a masquerade theme. For more information and tickets, visit www.thecanarycage.co.uk.
