David Yip's Gold Mountain returns to the Unity
Liverpool actor David Yip's critically acclaimed Gold Mountain returns to the Unity Theatre this week. First staged in 2010, it tells the tale of David Yee, trying to piece together the broken jigsaw of his father’s life – exploring his ramblings in search of family truths. In an epic journey from a small village in China to war-torn Liverpool, through the horrors of the Atlantic convoys, Yee Lui’s story of friendship, addiction and adversity is told. A collaboration between award-winning Les Deux Mondes and the Unity, the production combines imagery, film, music and soundscape. It returns this year for an international tour, beginning in the show's spiritual home before travelling to London and then Sweden with further dates to follow. David Yip is best known for roles including The Chinese Detective on BBC television, and in films like Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Bond film A View To A Kill, and Entrapment. He is reunited with original cast member Eugene Salleh, a graduate of Hope Street Limited’s Physical Theatre course who has worked extensively in stage and television.
