Final curtain for legendary dance company The Featherstonehaughs
All-male dance company The Featherstonehaughs invite you to come and celebrate with them as they take to the stage for the very last time with the acclaimed 2010 work Edits at CUC Liverpool on November . The Featherstonehaughs are one of the most celebrated British dance companies of recent times, and as part of their fantastic farewell tour their artistic director, legendary choreographer Lea Anderson will take part in a special 'in conversation' prior to the performance. Anderson will be talking about her work and her relationship with still and moving images from her personal collection. Over the past 25 years, she has extensively investigated the work of other artists and filmmakers as sources for inspiration, developing unique ways of looking at and disassembling images, translating them into movement. The Featherstonehaughs (and their all female co-company The Cholmondeleys) have been working under the directorship of Lea Anderson for over 25 years. They have performed her groundbreaking and distinctive choreography all over the world and past works include Dancing On Your Grave, Flesh & Blood, Double Take and The Featherstonehaughs Go Las Vegas. Challenging and exciting, visually stunning with commissioned live music, the next Lea Anderson work is always an eagerly anticipated event. Edits is the latest work, which premiered in 2010. Using a drastic and compelling new way of creating movement material, Edits "draws on the peculiar elasticity of filmic time, the dramatic rhythm of film editing, the ability to heighten effect through extreme close up and, while revealing the hidden rhythm achieved in film with the use of zooms, pans and tilts, creates a totally original live world of its own." I don't know what that means, but it sounds brilliant. Brought to you by those lovely people at MDI and Homotopia, this is one dance fans really don't want to miss. Tickets for Edits are available from the CUC box office: 0151 708 3529 or www.cucliverpool.org. Tickets for the In Conversation are available from Eventbrite.
