Liverpool Network Theatre's Romeo and Juliet

Liverpool Network Theatre's Romeo and Juliet

This weekend saw the first community performances of Liverpool Network Theatre's annual outdoor theatre event. Touring venues across the city, there is still time to catch the show at Reynolds Park, Church Road, Woolton on Friday (July 26) at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm; with a final performance at Sudley House, Mossley Hill,  on Sunday (July 28) at 1pm. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes feature above only for illustrative purposes and sadly won't be stopping by, but the cast will comprise amateur up-and-coming actors from across Liverpool. Director Andy Kerr said: “Many people's first encounter with Shakespeare is often an off-putting classroom experience. Our performance brings out the drama of the text, and sets this well-known story alight once more.” Tickets cost £7 (£5 concessions) and can be reserved in advance by calling 0151 708 7270 /0151 733 9696, or picked up in person at News From Nowhere on Bold Street. The company recommends that audiences bring your own seating and come dressed and prepared for British summer weather - which has been so far, so good, it makes a change to say. The Liverpool Network Theatre Group is committed to staging high quality productions accessible to ordinary people, with the aim of highlighting issues that remain relevant today whether the productions are contemporary plays or historical comedies. They also run weekly workshops (open to over 18s) every Tuesday, 7pm at Hope Street Limited. For more information, visit their website at liverpoolnetworktheatre.org.uk.
