Happy new year to one and all. Doom and gloom and detox? Not over here, it's not. Especially now The Martini Lounge burlesque and variety show has announced three new dates for 2012. Regarded as one of the must-see shows of its kind, The Martini Lounge treasures the satire and performance art that go back to the 19th century origins of burlesque. Audiences are invited to enjoy an impressive performance of glitz and glamour from a forgotten age. Previous Martini Lounge performers include Miss Exotic World winners and international burlesque stars such as Kitten de Ville (Los Angeles), Dirty Martini (New York), Beeby Rose (Amsterdam) and Roxy Diamond (Zurich), who have wooed audiences with their stunning routines alongside fabulous performances from the founder of the Martini Lounge, Liverpool’s own Millie Dollar (pictured) and the one and only Fred Bear in his role as compére. The Martini Lounge’s 2012 will start with the apparently now ‘infamous’ Valentines Special (ooer!) on Friday February 17, featuring burlesque starlet Dinah Might, ‘comic goddess’ Mysti Vine and Tricity Vogue, who, we’re told, is a dab hand with a ukulele. The line ups for the April and June showcases, with ‘spring fling’ and ‘sizzlin' summer’ themes, are yet to be confirmed. Following each performance, Zeligs stays open late for a Martini Lounge after party, and producers have also introduced the Martini Lounge Club, were guests can buy tickets for two or more performances for a special, discounted rate. For dates, tickets and more information visit www.martinilounge.co.uk. Martini Lounge founder Millie Dollar said: “2011 was an amazing year for us. It’s been a year in which we’ve gone from strength to strength with our past few shows all selling out well in advance. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and can’t wait to see what 2012 will bring."February’s show is already shaping up to be our best Valentines Showcase yet, I’m so excited to see Dinah Might perform in Liverpool and I’m currently speaking to some very exciting artists for April and June. If you haven’t experienced a Martini Lounge show yet, make it your New Year’s resolution to give it a try!”
