Laughterhouse goes large
Laughterhouse is one of the giants of Liverpool's stand up circuit; from its inception in 2008, they always vowed to bring something different to the city than the usual stag 'n' hens tomfoolery. And this week, they've announced the biggest gig of their lives - on the stage of the Philharmonic Hall, no less. So three cheers for Paula Harrington and the gang, who will be bringing us a veritable feast of funnymen, all in one night: We're talking the likes of Mark Watson (you know him, above); the formidable Richard Herring; the always lovely Phoenix Nights' 'Jerry the Berry' Dave Spikey; perennial favourite Canadian stand up Tom Stade; awesome Aussie comic Steve Hughes (below); our own Neil 'Peep Show' Fitzmaurice and, bien sur, Keith Carter as Nige, all at once, for your comedy delectation. How good is that?! MADEUP loves the sound of this gig because it really is not the kind of thing you see in town every day - and usually only in London if somebody's raising money for something. This sounds like a genuinely brilliant, very fun idea. Tickets go on sale today (Thursday, September 12) for the show on December 7. Tickets start from £20 and are available from the hotline on 0800 1777 575 or online at their website. They don't need to plug this weekend's shows at their regular haunt of the Slaughterhouse pub on Fenwick Street, because they're sold out. So there.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAnGYfnFz9I
