Legion of Doom ghost walk and Edinburgh preview
Sketch comedy scamps the Legion of Doom are gearing themselves up for another busy summer and their regular schlep up to the Edinburgh Festival. The trio - Rob Bond, Oli Bond and Lee Hithersay - have devised a brand new show, The Legion of Doom Presents: Fear and Laughter, which they will be trying out on an unsuspecting public at 81 Renshaw on July 25. Before then (tomorrow, in fact), they will be reprising one of their favourite characters, historian Thaddeus Bent (pictured), to lead a ghost walk that will, presumably be like no other. Meet at 81 Renshaw at 8pm for.... the URBAN TERROR EXPERIENCE, a fundraiser with a difference. With your help, they'll be taking the new show to Edinburgh's Wee Red Bar for most of August. They say: "The Legion of Doom aren’t three green charlatans fresh from University, gurning and squeaking their way through cheap laughs and obvious nob gags. Fear and Laughter doesn’t pull any punches in its subject matter taking stabs at intelligent, high concepts and twisting them into farcical, absurdist and above all silly snapshots of modern day life. Brimming with dark undercurrents and irreverent modern cultural references, The Legion of Doom are three men determined to push sketch comedy off the cliffs of obscurity, in the hope that the resulting mess will attract a large crowd. In summary, we’re a little bit different. If that’s what you’re after, come and watch us."Find them on Facebook at legionofdoomcomedy or Twitter @legionofdoom11, and here's MADEUP's review of last year's show, Sketchpocolypse Now.
